Technical Metallurgist

ABOUT THE COMPANY 

ZEME Eco Fuels and Alloys Ltd has established a state-of-the-art facility for recycled aluminium processing, producing aluminium alloys in the form of ingots. Zeme uses energy-efficient induction furnaces, which allow it to address niche clients and market segments. The Company’s eco-friendly production facility, the first of its kind in Cyprus, is located in the Ypsonas Industrial Area in Limassol, Cyprus. 

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE 

We are seeking a Technical Metallurgist to join our team, leveraging expertise in metallurgy to innovate and enhance our aluminum recycling processes. This role is integral to advancing our production capabilities and ensuring the highest quality of our aluminum alloys.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                                  

The specific duties as Technical Metallurgist will include:

  • Oversee the set up and the equipping of the laboratory.
  • Assist with the sourcing of raw material locally and internationally for the continual operation of the Plant.
  • Assist with sourcing customers of all finished factory products.
  • Assist with sourcing and presentation to management for approval necessary equipment.
  • Prepare SOPs and assist with training.
  • Produce and present activity and ad hoc reports to management.
  • Advise in the preparation of lining for the Induction furnaces.
  • Help to identify elements required to outrun various alloy ingots.
  • Assist in maintaining ISO 2001 at all levels of operations.
  • Recommend procedures for the safe and healthy running of operations.
  • Research advice and help to extraction and process various aluminium alloys.
  • As a metallurgist, you would need to design new processing plants, overseeing metallurgical operations, and conducting research and development to maintain and improve existing processes and develop new processes.
  • Conduct advanced X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) analyses on a diverse range of materials.
  • Operate and maintain state-of-the-art XRF instrumentation with precision and attention to detail.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Provide technical oversight for all Special Process functions, including Laboratory, XRF & Pyrometry, ensuring strict adherence to customer specifications.
  • Assist the Laboratory in conducting investigations, validating requirements, and coordinating mechanical testing, all from a technical perspective.

SELECTION CRITERIA  

Minimum

Professional accreditation in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science Engineering

5 years’ experience in a similar role

Very good proficiency in English

Desirable

University degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.

REMUNERATION PACKAGE 

  • Basic gross salary €26,000-€30,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
  • 21 days annual leave, plus the usual bank/public holidays in the Republic of Cyprus.
